MY GATE FOUND ITS FLOW:How my high school track experience is like my life

Updated: Jan 26, 2021

I was fast. I am still pretty fast. I ran track in high school as a sprinter- the 100m and 100m hurdles. (I hated practicing, which mirrors my work ethic on most things at that time in my life, but I digress.)

The gun would go off and I would just go. I wasn’t always the first one out of the blocks. I wasn’t the first one for the first 50 yards.

Then 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 would happen.

My gate 𝘧𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘵’𝘴 𝘧𝘭𝘰𝘸. It became wider, rhythmic, graceful. And FAST. I would feel something happen inside of me beyond just what my body was doing. In the last 50 yards I would inch forward past my competitors and 𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒔𝒉 𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒈, most often first.

My running experience is like my life.

I had natural talent, but I didn’t all ‘click’ for me until later.

  • I may not be first out of the gate, but I will push until I finish my strongest.

  • I will never back down on my race to the finish line.

And I know so many of you are 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒎𝒆.

♥️Maybe you're just finding your groove, doing the thing you're passionate about

♥️Maybe you're just starting to listen to your inner voice that's called you to more

♥️Maybe you've been serving others and you're starting to build something for yourself, too ♥️Maybe felt behind for years but you're starting to find your gate and grace

And here we ALL are, united, 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 towards the finish line of our life. Because we've found our gate. We know our grace. And we are 𝒉𝒖𝒔𝒕𝒍𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒔𝒉.
